Changing e-liquid flavours

Clean the Tank
To fully enjoy your vape and get the most flavour from your e-liquid, you need to make sure that you know how best to clean and prep your vape tank. First up is emptying the tank – which involves more than just tipping out excess liquid.
Think about where your vape tank sits during the day – in a pocket, bag, or even out in the open. It gathers dust and dirt, and the residue from old e-liquids collects in the tank. All these things will have an impact on the flavour and hit you get when you vape, and mixing flavours accidentally can prove disastrous for the taste buds.
Disassemble your tank according to manufacturer instructions. Remove the coil head from your tank first, and either discard it or set it aside (see our tip on coils, below). Once the tank is empty, simply run it under water until it’s clean. Let it dry in the air (don’t towel dry and get more dust in there), then it’s ready to use again. If it still feels damp, just use a good paper towel to soak up the excess. You don’t want any leftover liquid in there that could interfere with the coil.
Take Care of the Kit
Now that your tank is clean and ready to go, you should turn your attention to the rest of the kit.
Spend a while cleaning the drip tip – remove it from the e-cig, run it under or soak it in clean water, then clean the inside with a thin cotton bud to really make sure there’s no residue inside. Just like the tank, though, make sure you leave it to air dry, and then pat any excess water off with a paper towel.
You could also carefully clean the tank base, battery and tank cap with a cotton bud to really make sure your kit is gleaming.
Change the coil
The wire coil in your E-Cigarette can wear out and the wick can burn, so changing your coil is another important thing to do to maximise new e-liquids. It’s good to do it every couple of weeks, or monthly at most.
If you’re not sure how often you need to change it, you should be able to tell. If you think your flavour is less intense, that there’s a burnt taste to your vape, or that it just isn’t as pleasant as it was before, then chances are that you need to change the coil. It’s a good thing to do while you’re cleaning your vape tank, and is particularly important if you are a heavy vape user or want to make the most of your e-liquid flavours.
It’s easy to buy a set of Replacement Coils for your e-cigarette (while more experienced vapers might build their own) and only takes a moment to fit. Disassemble the tank and get rid of the old coil. When your tank is clean and dry (see above), simply screw the new coil into place, assemble the rest of your kit, and stand it upright.
Drip your new e-liquid onto the new coil and let it steep for a while on the wick before you vape, otherwise you may ruin the new coil.
However, if you don’t need to replace the coil yet and want to add new e-liquids, you can simply add the old coil back into your clean tank. You may notice a strange taste for the first half a dozen inhales as the two flavours are mixed together, but it should settle into the new flavour. Make sure you still let the wick steep with the new flavour first, though.
By regularly cleaning your tank and the other components of your vape kit, and making sure that your coil is in top condition, you’ll not only make the most of the new taste when you’re changing e-liquid flavours, but you’ll keep your e-cigarette lasting even longer.
