Choosing the right vape pen

Whether you want to start vaping and aren't sure where to begin, or already use e-cigarettes and want to check your other options, our handy guide to vape pens is just what you need.

What is a vape pen?

Vape pens are a popular form of e-cigarette in the UK, used by smokers, ex-smokers, and people who simply enjoy vaping. They are slim, light and easy to carry, making them a popular choice for e-cigarette users. Most vape pens are made up of a small, rechargeable battery unit, a heating element, and a tank - known as an atomiser or clearomizer - into which you put e-liquid.

We are spoiled for choice when it comes to vape pens in the UK, so it's very easy to get a good quality e-cigarette, but there are some subtle differences that it's good to know about when choosing your vape pen.

If you want: a beginner vape pen

When you’re just starting out on your vaping journey, you maybe won’t want to spend too much money in case you are worried you won’t take to it.

Thankfully there are some brilliant e-cigarette starter kits out there which will set you up nicely, and provide you with the vape pen you need to begin. Look for something which is going to be easy to set up and use, and which gives you good flavour from your e-liquids.

If you want: thick clouds

Some people like nothing more than big, sweet smelling clouds of vapour, and there are plenty of vape pens out there to satisfy.

Look for a specific Sub-Ohm model, which will help you get great flavour and big vapour clouds without doing any damage to your atomiser or heating element. Sub-Ohm e-cigarette starter kits should come with everything you need, as well as Sub-Ohm e-liquid to get you started.

You can also buy accessories for your Sub-Ohm vape pens to customise them, but it’s a good idea to find out if you like the sensation with a starter kit first!

If you want: heavy usage

If, like millions of other people, you go from smoking to not smoking and rely on e-cigarettes to help with cravings, you will want something high-performance that offers plenty of customisation options. You need a box mod.

Box mods are the next generation in e-cigarettes, giving you control over everything from temperature to wattage and voltage, plus extended battery life, bigger tanks and better vapour.
